- Use text/email/social media to let family and close friends know you are safe

- Keep cell phone charged and carry extra battery pack/car charger/hand crank phone power generator for backup
- Conserve cell phone battery power by dimming screen, putting phone in ‘airplane mode’, closing all unnecessary applications and only using phone for necessary calls/messages/etc.
